Terrance Mortimer, Cofounder & Principal
People are crucial to every business and organization, and communication is their lifeblood. As a career ATF Special Agent and Cofounder of STC, I utilize my specialized training and experience to advance leaders’ vital communication skills. These advanced verbal and nonverbal communication skills serve leaders to build deeper trust and understand what is truly being communicated back to them. It may be with owners, board members, clients, government officials, staff, and others. Leaders lead best that are trusted the most. Teams perform best that are led with deep trust and resilience.
For my first 25 years as an agent and Intelligence Officer, I investigated violent crime - drug traffickers, gangs, bombers, arsonists, killers - in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. Interviewing became the singular most important tool I possessed, partly because I used it all day, every day. I had the privilege of talking with all kinds of people, from the wealthy to the homeless.
I then served 3 years as the Training Manager and SME for the Interviewing and Interrogation training at the ATF National Academy in Brunswick, Georgia. I was also very privileged to be a member of the ATF Peer Response Team, trained by Johns-Hopkins doctors of psychiatry and psychology, and deployed to mitigate critical incident trauma and encourage resilience for law enforcers, first responders, and their families.
Prior to becoming an ATF Agent, I graduated from the Washington Bible College with a B.A. in Theology/Biblical Studies and served as a police officer in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
